Response to Falconer 'Report'

Thursday 5th January 2012

This is a request for Assisted Suicide. Lord Falconer said it was not for euthanasia, but that is nonsense. He only ruled out involuntary euthanasia.

If anyone really wants to be killed, they have a pretty poor doctor. There are palliative care physicians and anesthetists runnning pain clinics who should be consulted.

In over 30 years of hospice work, I only met one patient who consistently demanded euthanasia. But when the BBC recorded a programme on euthanasia, I asked all the patients in my clinic, or who I visited that day, and no fewer than 6 of them agreed to be recorded, saying they had considered suicide because of suffering UNTIL THEY MET THE HOSPICE TEAM.
